Bootfitting FAQ’s

Do  I need a boot fitting appointment?

→  Yes we highly recommend having your boots properly fit to you and Tahoe Sports Hub's boot fitting is available by appointment.

How long does a boot fitting appointment take?

→ It takes a minimum of one hour but could be as long as 2.5 hours depending on your needs. You may need to leave your boots overnight if more in depth customization is required.

What is involved with boot  purchase?

→ We will not only get you in a boot that fits your size, but also the shape of your foot. Finding a properly fitting boot will ensure you have the best experience on the snow. There is an old ski shop saying "Date your skis, marry your boots".

Why are socks so important?

→ We recommend thin tall socks for bootfitting appointments and for use. A sock can alter the fit of aboot. If you do not have proper socks we have a large stock for purchase.

Do you do work on boots I already have but bought elsewhere?

→ Yes

Can I buy a boot without an appointment?

→ Yes, as long as you already know exactly what boot and size you need or we have a large selection of consignment boots that can be purchased without an appointment. Consignment boots are not included in our "boot fit guarantee"

How much does boot work on existing boots cost?

→ It depends what work needs to be done and if custom insoles are purchased.

What brands do you carry?

→ Salomon, Dalbello, Dynafit, 32, Ride, Nordica, Tecnica, K2, Lange, Fischer, Key Equipment, Roxa, Nitro, and Atomic.

Can you fit two people at once ( i.e. a couple or family)

→ Yes, we just ask that you book back to back appointments so that we have the correct amount of time allotted.

How does your fit guarantee work?

→ Once you have your boot appointment scheduled . We will find the best boot to fit the shape and size of your foot. We know that the boots may feel great in the store, but once you ski in them you may want to have us make some adjustments to fine tune the boots to your feet and desired fit.. Any after purchase boot work needed for the two "seasons" after your purchase are included under our boot fit guarantee.

Does the boot fit guarantee apply to consignment or sale boots?

→ No, but we will work to fit consignment boots to your. There may be some additional  boot fitting charges depending on the boot work necessary.

Should ski boots feel uncomfortable?

→ No, but they also will not feel like slippers. We are not normally used to wearing tall stiff  plastic boots. New ski boots should feel snug  like a good old fashioned firm handshake all around your foot and ankle.

How  does one know what the correct boot size is?

→ The correct boot is based on the size and shape of feet and also the shape of your calf and ankle. We also take into account the performance level you are looking for and stiffness level. A proper fit will automatically improve your ability and general experience on the snow.

Why should boots fit so snug?

→ Because they will only get bigger as you use them and break them in. A snug fit will give you more control on the snow.

Why do you recommend after market insoles?

→ Insoles increase your comfort and performance level.

Should I choose custom insoles or  trim to fit insoles?

→ Either option is better than your stock footbed that came with your boot. Custom insoles will last longer than trim to fit insoles and will match your heel shape as well as arch shape. Custom insoles will adjust to you your height, length, and depth.

My boot liner is packed out or I am buckling my boots all the way down.... Do I need new boots?

→ No, not necessarily there is a good chance of getting a new or aftermarket liner and extending the life of your boots. A new liner could make your current boots feel new again.

My boots are too tight, can you fix that?

→ Yes, we can usually make more room in your boots. It is best to make and appointment  and see what the best options are.
